Praise the Lord
He might not be as popular as the Beatles, nor is he as widely reported about in the news as Michael Jackson, but the 57-year-old American singer/songwriter Don Moen has sold more than five million copies of his albums in the past two decades.
With almost 30 albums and more than a 100 songs under his belt, Mr. Moen is considered one of the most prolific and best-selling contemporary Christian inspirational artist in the world. But he makes sure all these things does not go to his head. Asked about what he thinks is the reason God put him on this planet, Mr. Moen said: "To be an architect who designs products and events that help people experience God’s presence in a new and fresh way." As a predominantly Christian country, it was not surprising that Mr. Moen’s first four-night concert series at the Araneta Coliseum a few years ago was sold-out. Because of this, the organizers of Mr. Moen’s series of worship concerts this weekend made sure that there were enough shows to accommodate his Filipino fans all over the country. Mr. Moen promises to bring the same level of excitement for his concert tour this year for his fans from all walks of life who are looking for another spiritually gratifying worship event. Mr. Moen will perform his songs including "Give Thanks," "Heal Me Oh Lord," "Thank You Lord," "God is Good All the Time," and "God Will Make a Way." The last song — an uplifting work of hope — was composed by Mr. Moen for his wife’s sister and her husband, who lost their eldest son in a car accident. Mr. Moen is also expected to sing cuts from his previously released albums Thank You Lord and Hiding Place. Thank You Lord was released in 2004, while Hiding Place was released autumn last year. The 2007 concert tour, dubbed Don Moen: Thank You Lord, kicked off last month at the Glad Tidings Church Auditorium in Vancouver, Canada. Mr. Moen will be coming to the country from a two-day concert at the Bethany Assembly of God in Springfield, Massachusetts. After his shows here in the Philippines, Mr. Moen is headed to Singapore for a three-night concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium starting Aug. 3. Mr. Moen recorded his single "The Mercy Seat" at the Singapore venue eight years ago. Tickets for Mr. Moen’s two shows in the Araneta Coliseum this Saturday are priced at P788, P525, P315, and P210. Tickets for these shows are available at the Araneta Coliseum box office, SM Customer Service counters, and through Ticketnet at 911-5555. Call the show’s organizers, Maximedia, Inc., at 551-7777 for tickets of the shows in Cebu City and Pampanga.
