The breather on nasal decongestion

No one ever enjoys having a clogged nose. It affects one’s ability to hear, smell, speak, taste, and worst of all, breathe. It also causes difficulty in sleeping and eating.

Also known as nasal obstruction, nasal congestion is the blockage of the nasal passages due to the swelling of membranes that line the inside of the human nose.

This is the olfactory system’s natural reaction to allergens and viruses that enter the respiratory tract. Although it is generally considered a mild annoyance to most adults, nasal congestion could lead to life threatening consequences especially for newborn infants. Significant nasal congestion can even be associated with snoring and sleep apnea.

There are a handful of remedies that can be used to decongest the nose such as increasing liquid intake. Doing so aids the body in expelling irritants from the nose, therefore decongesting it.

Drinking fruit juices and tea, complemented with ample rest, also strengthens the olfactory system against allergic reactions that cause nasal clogs.

For natural and immediate temporary relief, one can use tongue and finger to loosen the nasal tract. To do this, one should alternately thrust one’s tongue against the roof of the mouth while simultaneously pressing the space between the eyebrows with one’s index finger for 30 seconds. This exercise prods the sinuses to drain almost immediately.

There are other simpler methods of dealing with clogged nose. One can take a tablet or opt for a nasal spray like Drixine.

Drixine can unclog the nose in as fast as five seconds. With these methods of decongestion lined up, one can say goodbye to the hassles and discomfort of clogged nose.
